The offering dish would be used to present some article of food to the ancestor or deity being prayed to.

There is a deformity on the perimeter of the base.  The image above shows that the deformity is not damage to the dish since it was made.  You can see that the celedon glaze covers the deformity. The dish has not been damaged in any way since it came from the kiln.
